Tony Wright is an artist long admired for his commercial work, from working for Time Out and various music press, to a visual and storyboard artist for film, but it's his love of fine art which encouraged his new Incidents & Reflection exhibition.
Before coming to film he had wanted to study fine art. A one year art foundation course led to an interest in early conceptualists like Ed Ruscha and Douglas Huebler and the setting up of Ei8ht Enterprises with fellow artist, Brett Ewins.
Wright is regularly invited to lecture students in the UK and abroad in concept design and the visual narrative, this is the kind of work he's undertaken to earn a living but, now, he spends as much time as he can producing work in his studio. Having spent twenty years supporting other peoples work, Wright is now looking to focus his attention on his own vision.
Incidents & Reflection runs at the Orange Dot Gallery (54 Tavistock Place, London, WC1H 9RG) from May 13th to May 28th.
