James Lavelle

Following the success of 2010's inaugural Daydreaming With... James Lavelle exhibition, which took place at Haunch of Venison last August, Daydreaming With... has announced its first partnership with The Gaymers Camden Crawl to presenting Daydreaming with... St Michael's, at St Michael's Church, Camden Road, London, NW1 9LQ, from 27 April - 5 May.

For this exhibition, UNKLE's James Lavelle has collaborated with visual artists Doug Foster and Jonathan Glazer on two separate video installations using music created by UNKLE and Simon Fisher Turner.

Doug Foster's digital film installation, The Heretics' Gate, takes it inspiration from Dante's Inferno, the first part of his epic poem the Divine Comedy. A twenty foot high, arched screen and a thirty foot long reflecting pool, are cleverly combined to deliver a mesmerizing and strangely ethereal vision of hell at the central focus point of the church's imposing gothic architecture.

Jonathan Glazer, who first collaborated with UNKLE on their 1999 award winning music video Rabbit In Your Headlights, will present the film Red Clay. First shown at Haunch of Venison last August, the film has been re-configured in response to the architecture of St Michael's church, which lends the film a hauntingly visceral sentiment when viewed in this new context.

Daydreaming With... and the The Vinyl Factory have also produced limited edition vinyl of The Heretics' Gate, with imagery by Doug Foster and music by UNKLE taken from the digital film installation. This will be a limited edition of 100, priced at £100 each, and signed and numbered by Doug Foster and James Lavelle. The exclusive release will be available to purchase at the exhibition.
