Brick Lane isn't just famous for curry any more. The explosion of galleries, bars and markets around the old Truman Brewery in the last ten years or so has led to the area being a hub for creativity and young, modern life-style in London.

Shafiur Rahman's forthcoming documentary Brick Lane In Art is a portrait of the street and the area - as seen by artists and others who live and work or even just visit there.

"I wanted to shoot a social documentary which would frame the street, its life, and the complex web in which it operates," says Shafiur Rahman. "I wanted to hear the area's "official" stories. And of course the other side of those stories. I started filming in the fall of 2009. Seems a long time ago. And so this little trailer is a quiet announcement that we are serious about the final edit now..."

The trailer is at the top of the page and a clip from the film showing Joe Deane, Joseph Loughborough and Ben Slow painting a piece called Ma o Shishu on Hanbury Street is below.
